Safety of work
- When working with tiles use safety aids (for example safety glasses)
Base preparation
- Base must be solid and dry, without cracks and unevenness. It must also be clean and free from elements which impairs adhesion
- Highly absorbent base (gypsum wall), we recommend suitable penetration coating
Cutting
- When cutting tiles with a 5 mm thickness, you can use a glass hand-cutter
- When cutting floor with a 8 mm of thickness, we recommend cutting machine equipped with diamond cutter and water cooling system
- When cutting off a corner sector, drill a hole in the top of a corner sector first (it will prevent from breakage)
- Irregular shapes can be cut off with a saw which has a diamond surface steel wire
- A combination of hand and machine cutting is also suitable
Hole drilling
- With a drilling machine – use a diamond bit drill for cutting glass
- Always use a water cooling system when drilling - we recommend fixation in drilling head with self coolingsystem
- Rough-drilling on the back of the tile will avoid any chipped edges when finishing the drilling
Edge grinding
- Hand grinding – use grinding sponge (for glass) soaked in water
- Machine grinding – for example with a drilling machine equipped with grinding wheel
Fixing
- Adhesive has to be spread equally all over the back of the tile
- Absorbent base – we recommend cement based adhesives with flexible additives
- Non – absorbent base – silicon based or two component adhesives (in case of obscurity contact your adhesives supplier)
- IMPORTANT: Follow the technological fixing process prescribed by adhesive manufacturer
- Use a spreader with teeth when applying adhesives application onto the base – thickness approx. 2 mm
- When applied on large areas make dilatation joints ( in area, around beams and parts with dilatation)
- IMPORTANT: we do not recommend the speeding up of the drying out of already fixed tiles (especially during winter time)
- Recommended working temperature: 10-30 °C
- Help: In order for the tile to be laid correctly, the ballerina on the back of the tile should be head up
Jointing
- Usual jointing procedure with commonly used jointing materials
- Choose the thickness of the joint according to temperature fluctuation (min. 1-1,5mm)
- When used for exterior applications or in areas with high temperature fluctuation we recommend joint 2 – 4 mm
Cleaning
- Cleaning with water and ordinary detergents
- Dirt can be cleaned with detergents for sanitary and ceramic tiles
